Bilquis Ma'arib was built in the shape of Awam Temple, also known as Mahram Bilquis. Bilquis, the Queen of Sheba, ruler of the Saba'ean Kingdom, controlled access north along the famed frankincense route as camel caravans traveled from Wadi Hadramowt to Ma'arib bound for the Levant.
